IAP Worldwide Services Selects AcceleNet to Improve Military Camp Operations in Iraq : Software Accelerator to Speed Critical Application over 8,000

QUINCY, Mass. (Business Wire EON) June 30, 2008 -- IAP supports thousands of U.S. military personnel at camps throughout Iraq and other regions of the world. The company takes on full responsibility for facility operations, maintenance, and sustaining the camps, including providing services such as grounds keeping, medical supplies, food services, water, power, and shelter. Office administration relies on the IAP Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system, a web-based application hosted in the U.S. and accessed over a satellite connection with secure VPN technology.

"Our application is bandwidth-intensive and the satellite latency was impacting the efficiency of our users," said Carlos Ortiz, infrastructure manager at IAP. "We purchased and deployed acceleration appliances initially and the results did not improve performance. Since implementing AcceleNet, however, our users could see a dramatic difference instantaneously."

AcceleNet is a software accelerator that combines advanced data compression, a broad range of application protocol optimizers, unique handling of secure protocols, and patented transport optimization. The AcceleNet client is designed specifically to improve performance of public and secure web applications, file shares, and email over networks with limited bandwidth, latency and high packet loss, including 3G wireless, DSL, and satellite. The architecture detects network conditions and application protocols in real time and employs the most effective techniques to speed user performance.

To date, IAP has deployed the client software to approximately 50 users and they continue to add new users each month. In addition, the product's success in Iraq has earned broader acceptance, as it will be included in IAP projects that rely upon low bandwidth and/or satellite networks.

"IAP's 50-year history in military operations and disaster relief is admirable, and they have grown to be one of the largest military contractors providing services in Iraq and Afghanistan," said Michael Slygh, ICT president. "We knew we could help by providing better application speeds and service, and our AcceleNet client software has proven to be a much more efficient performer for IAP. We're glad they placed their confidence in us, and look forward to supporting their ongoing growth."
